The Church concert [23 Jul 2006|02:15pm]

[ mood | sad ]

At Marquee in Tempe, AZ. An amazing concert. This band has class, I don't care that they're not that huge. Fabulous Aussies. The way they come across is a perfect balance of the dignity and glory of some serious rock veterans, and at the same time none of the arrogance and being full of themselves, quite the opposite - very warm and friendly. The venue wasn't exactly empty, but not filled to the brim either. We had great seats, very close. They had some technical difficulties with sound/equipment, so there were some gaps, which Steve tried to fill with talk and some improvised singing. Even those problems could not spoil the show, they're just too good. Mostly acoustic (surprise!), only bass was electric. I kept trying to figure out how the two acoustic guitars' sound was amplified, I could not see any pick-ups, only what looked like regular guitar signal cables ends taped to the guitar body at the bottom, just below the bridge. They could have been mics, so the two acoustics were probably just miked. Looked like they enjoyed playing, too. And two encores - sweeet - I'm glad the audience did that, they deserve it. Now we have about 6 or 7 CDs, a DVD and a T-shirt.... and yeah, the show is over.... it was so perfect... why did it have to end?
Now  what? My next fix is probably not till September, when Roger Waters comes to town... I didn't go to Queen & PR concert, because of PR, though I really love Roger and Brian. May be I should have gone. PR does their rockiest, choppiest songs OK (like We Will Rock You), but when he's trying to do Freddie's "this voice floods the Earth"  actual melodic singing vocals songs, he just sucks. Freddie's 60th birthday is on September 5th, and I do hope the world will be celebrating. I personally will drink champagne and watch early Queen videos all day...  I know that I won't be able to see my biggest indie love Three Mile Pilot playing live for the 1st time in 8 years (Chicago, Sept.8-10, Touch-n-Go 25th anniversary), so I cannot even get excited over it. Good for Chicago, damn it!
All I've left to do now is continue collecting pictures... and watch Back Chat... I  got addicted to that video, I don't care that it's "too disco to be real Queen" and it doesn't have the Red Special - it works as a mild antidepressant for me, it really does. All four queenies look fabulous, if you just disregard Freddie's mustache. He's performing an excellent complete body workout, and some quirky singing, which fits the song so flawlessly. And a sweet, achy guitar solo from very serious Brian,  and Roger looking indeed like Luke Skywalker. Easily the best song by John Deacon (everyone else would name Another One Bites the Dust as his best, but I don't care, so bite me!)

My friend and I are sitting here the morning after. We saw the Arctic Monkeys last night in Tempe, Arizona at the Marquee theatre. And We Are Scientists went before them as well and yeah. And we're very very very very sad now. That's about all I can say other than that was fucking AMAZING. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;. *DIES*

Hi, i'm new [01 Jun 2006|02:54am]

matchinagastank
Hello, i'm new. I live in Milwaukee, WI. i have a very broad taste in music. I love love love love love LOVE the L.A. music scene, though. some of my favorite bands are Rooney, T.E.A., Phantom Planet, Rilo Kiley, Hanson, The Redwalls, GAZZ, The Waking Hours, Big City Rock, Everybody Else, and so on.

I suffer from severe pcdd most of the time. it depends on the band. some of the bands include:
-Rooney
-Phantom Planet
-Keane
-The Redwalls
-Hanson
-Big City Rock
-Rilo Kiley
-T.E.A.
-Everybody Else
-Lifehouse

pcdd hits me when i don't know when i will see that band again. if i'm seeing Rooney or Phantom Planet a few times in a row, pcdd doesn't hit me until after the last show. Unfortunately, I very rarely get to see the L.A. bands that absolutely love... once a year if i'm lucky. I've only seen T.E.A. and EBE once each, and i don't know when i will be seeing them again, so that makes me depressed just thinking about it.

anyway, i'm looking forward to reading and sharing stories here.

Hi.  I'm new to pcdd.  The last concert that I went to was on Feb. 13, 2006 Aerosmith/Lenny Kravitz.  Since the concert I've only listened to Aerosmith and have become obessed with Steven Tyler LOL.

Well as all people in this community, i have also suffered ppcd. It takes days even some times weeks before it goes away, in that time you can't concentrate in anything and all you want to do is to liten to the band you lat saw, o just listen to music all day, to remember every single part of the concert, from the waiting to the ride home after the concert, especially every single movement of the guys of the band.It happens. The time when i had the most strong ppcd was after the strokes concert in my country Chile, even if it was in october i think i still have a post ppcd.
ppcd it's part f the whole thing, so i love that drepression, i prefer to have it than to don't.

Muse is incredible live.

Sigh. I definitely got PCDD immediately after they were done. I was stunned and just sat there, I could not form words.

Everyone I went with has moved on but I definitely am still at that concert! Mentally, anyway.

So here are my concerts, I haven't been to many, but they were all awesome:

2)Red Hot Chili Peppers & Snoop Dogg @ N.O. Arena in New Orleans on June 11, 2003.
3)Aerosmith & Cheap Trick @ the Cajundome in Lafayette on March 25, 2004.
4)KISS & Drowning Pool @ the N.O. Arena in N.O. on August 7, 2004. I was on the floor!
5)Voodoo Fest @ City Park in N.O. on October 16, 2004. I saw the Beastie Boys, Green Day, Sonic Youth, Juliette and the Licks, the Pixies, the Polyphonic Spree, Snow Patrol, and Phantom Planet. There were more bands, but not more time.
6)Metallica & Godsmack @ the N.O. Arena on November 14, 2004. I was in the pit, even though it was a small-ass pit!

Anyways, all of them were fucking awesome. I cant wait till the next!
